Student, Climate Activist, Tecnológico de Monterret
Shurabe Mercado, a Mexican third-year biotechnology engineering student at Tecnológico de Monterrey, is an ardent social and climate activist. Over the past six years, she has actively participated in student groups, served as a speaker, and played a crucial role in steering committees for various projects and organizations, focusing on social and environmental events for youth. As the founder and CEO of “SEHALUZ,” a digital educational project, she’s dedicated to empowering students in vulnerable situations.
Additionally, she has held significant roles such as the past director of citizen responsibility at her university and the current president of the Student Society of the School of Engineering and Sciences. Shurabe is also the current director of the STEAM program for a camp organized by the UNESCO Center for Peace and has held leadership positions in international organizations like the International Youth Conference. Her work with the UN DGC Civil Society Youth Representatives Steering Committee highlights her commitment to creating a greener, safer world through inclusive societal engagement and empowering youth for positive change.
