Nitya Satheesh

Senior Program Manager, Centre for Wildlife Studies

An engineer by training, Nitya shifted to the field of wildlife conservation after a volunteering stint in a project that studied wolves in North Karnataka. After a few years of experience in the field, she pursued a Professional Master’s in Environmental Conservation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her work in the conservation space spans 10 years with a focus on environmental education.

In 2018, Nitya joined CWS’ Wild Shaale program and was part of the first education team in Karnataka. She is now Senior Program Manager of the program overseeing it in 300 schools across five states. She has also been part of the curriculum design for the program and is involved in its expansion as well. She is co-author of two scientific publications in CWS. Nitya firmly believes that conservation in India cannot overlook the people and that environmental education is a critical tool that will help connect future generations to the natural world.
