Co-Founder and CEO, Slam Out Loud
Jigyasa Labroo is the Co-Founder and CEO of Slam Out Loud (SOL), an Indian not-for-profit founded in 2017.
Slam Out Loud (SOL) transforms Arts Education and Socio-Emotional Learning for children in underserved communities. Using poetry, storytelling, visual arts, and theatre, they build Creative Confidence while exploring social justice issues like climate and gender. Their Jijivisha Fellowship operates in Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, and Bangalore, placing artists in classrooms, with 75% of children showing annual competency growth in SEL skills. SOL’s at-scale programme, Arts for All with the state governments of Punjab and Maharasthra creates contextual arts-based SEL curriculum for the weekly arts period and trains teachers on implementation. Since 2017, SOL has impacted 70,000 children in-person and reached ~10.5 million digitally.
Jigyasa studied Learning Design as a KC Mahindra scholar at Harvard Graduate School of Education (2022) and is one of the winners of Falling Walls, Berlin. She is also on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia Impact list (2022) and was most recently awarded Innovator of the Year by HundrED (2023). Jigyasa has been a fellow at Echoing Green, Salzburg Global Seminar, WISE Qatar, Arts for Good Singapore, and Teach For India. She believes in the power of finding one’s voice and engages with music, travel, and coaching to evolve hers constantly.
